25 People Charged During Dog-Fighting Raid

A search warrant was executed during the evening of Feb. 25 at the residence of Jimmy Jacobs, located at 3541 McLeod Road in Maxton, N.C. Twenty-five people were arrested on charges ranging from dog fighting and animal cruelty to being spectators at a dog fight. The spectators included North Carolina residents as well as individuals from as far away as Maryland and Ohio. In addition to dog fighting and animal neglect, weapons charges were made, along with possession of controlled substances. Tens of thousands of dollars in U.S. currency was seized, along with multiple handguns, various drugs and dog fighting paraphernalia. Special Agents with the N.C. Fulton County and Atlanta Award Security Contracts

Norred & Associates, Atlanta’s largest locally-owned and operated security firm, has been awarded two substantial security contracts by Fulton County and the city of Atlanta that are expected to generate additional hiring in the metro Atlanta area, according to company officials.

Norred’s contracts with Fulton County and the city of Atlanta are for one year each, with two one-year options.   Norred & Associates has hired and assigned 117 employees to the Fulton County contract. Approximately 150 security officers will be allocated to the city of Atlanta contract.   May 27 is the anticipated start date for the city contract.

Some of the properties to be serviced include Atlanta City Hall, the Atlanta Municipal Court, City Hall East, the Public Safety headquarters and the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center.
